How SPARKFUZE™ works: a plain explanation
SPARKFUZE™ is our patented high-speed electrochemical coating process. The name says it all: spark + fuse.
The principle
A controlled electrical discharge of microsecond duration and precise energy melts the catalytic precursor onto the metal substrate. Local temperature exceeds 1,500 °C but only at the exact point, for a millionth of a second. The bulk substrate stays at room temperature.
Why it matters
Compared to classic thermal coating (ovens at 400 °C for hours):
- Process time: minutes vs. hours.
- Energy consumption: 90% less.
- No parasitic substrate oxidation.
- Possibility of nanostructures unattainable by other methods.
Three European and two US patents protect the process. Five years of R&D, industrially validated since 2024.
